Once upon a Midnight Flight

One stormy night there were two adventurers who were planning a long journey. They thought they had everything set, and were planned to leave later in the day, but as they went about their day, they heard mumblings and rumors among the townsfolk of a storm-a-brewing. At first the adventurers were not too worried, they put it aside as chit-chat among idle folk. But as the day continued, the mumblings and rumors grew more and more, making even the towns people anxious. The adventurers could no long ignore this chatter, or the signs of the sky, that indeed a viscous storm was approaching. These two travelers were not about to give up, they were still dedicated and were going on this journey. They decided to mount their Black Beauty, a steed named Kia, and left the town earlier, in hopes to beat the storm to their first resting point. They road quick and careful along the busy town road towards dark storm clouds, taunting them and challenging their decision. Kia, a strong and beautiful steed made it just before the first flecks of snow hit the traveler's faces. They tied her up in the stable, hoping she would be safe from the storm by the time they returned. They quickly sought shelter in the cabin across the river. They had to take a ferry across a vast river in order to make it to their destination. The operator of the Ferry was very fearful of this storm, he told people to go home, and stay inside, not to try to travel this night. The traveler's were not so easily swayed from their course, and waited. As they huddled near each other in the corner of the small and cold cabin, telling each other stories and enjoying each other's company as they waited for the Ferry operator to take them across the river, but the snow had frozen the river, and they had to wait for it to unfreeze. After a long and harsh five hours the Ferry operator told them they had a narrow chance of crossing at midnight, so the two travelers and operator climbed aboard the ferry and traveled across the dangerous waters. They arrived on shore at about 2 o clock in the morning. They met with good acquaintances and friends who lent them another black steed to travel to a home they never forgot. They safely made it and were so glad they risked the journey. To be home at last was a beautiful thing and the journey that much more worth it.
The End
