(no subject)

I have a really hard time with the subject line of emails. Sometimes my email can be summed up in a couple words, or even one word, but most of the time not. Sometimes I really can't think of anything to put there that wouldn't sound stupid or just be super cryptic. Plus, does it really matter? I mean hopefully they'll open the mail anyways right? And, with gmail subject doesn't really show, or mean all that much because they show who sent it and a little bit of the message.
Field Example;
I sent an email to my faculty advisor about my four-year plan. I wasn't exactly sure how to title the email because I just wanted a copy of it, I thought of writing "four-year plan" or "Copy" or "Assistance please" seeeeeeeee how friggin lame that is? I mean really does she need to know immediately the nature of the message? And if so how are any of those going to help her make her decision of whether or not to open the message or delete it?
In conclusion:
I really really don't like writing subjects for emails that I can't sum up in one word; which in reality, is most of the time.
The End

  1. I agree! Subject lines are great in theory, but really quite pointless in reality.

    Plus also, I'm now a reader of your blog. Did ya notice? :)
